Understanding God’s Unconditional Love
Have you ever found yourself wondering: Does God really love me? What does that even mean? What if I lose that love? If so, you’re not alone, and I sincerely pray that you find clarity and assurance in these questions.
God’s love is the very foundation of who He is and why He acts the way He does. It’s the confidence that allows us to trust Him with our lives. If you want to explore more about resting in God’s love, keep reading!
Is God’s Love Conditional?
The short answer is: No, God’s love is not conditional. In fact, it’s the complete opposite! You don’t need to earn God’s love; it’s a gift freely given. Just like the essential value of love that we all crave, it has to be offered freely to be genuine. Romans 5:8 tells us that even when we were at our worst, Christ died for us. His love was directed toward us long before we ever realized we needed Him. All we need to do is open our hearts and receive it.
You are loved, you are wanted, and you matter to God!**
However, the enemy seeks to undermine this truth by planting seeds of doubt in our hearts. How does he do this? By introducing what I like to call “false evidence,” often starting from a young age. He uses the actions of others and his own lies to promote two major misconceptions:
1. You are unlovable.
2. God’s love cannot be trusted.
But let me assure you, nothing could be further from the truth! Unlike us, imperfect humans, God’s ability to love and care for us is complete and perfect. His love is strong enough to heal our wounds.
That’s why it’s so important to fill our hearts and minds with the truth of God’s love. The Bible reminds us that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by His Word. So let’s lean into His truth today as we reflect on how deeply we are cherished and loved.
