Today’s Bible Verse: 2 Corinthians 5:17
Let’s talk about what it means to be a new creation:
Ok! Picture this with me, we are standing beside a calm lake and you toss a pebble into the water. The ripples spread outward, transforming the surface gently yet powerfully. This image is a beautiful metaphor for the transformation we experience in Christ.
When God gave us a new heart, infusing it with His love and grace, He initiated a ripple—a renewal that starts within and gently expands outward.
Understanding the New Creation
““Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”
Revelation 3:20 NLT
Once we have opened that to door,
a miraculous transformation has occurred. Deep inside, God has exchanged your old nature and desires, placing His very own Spirit within you. Your spirit is brand new, thoroughly renewed! (Galatians 2:20)
But maybe you’re asking, “Why do I still struggle?” Well, remember those ripples? The transformation began in your spirit and is now working its way through your life. As you yield to this new Spirit, you embark on a process called sanctification. Also known as: working out your own salvation. (Philippians 2:12) This isn’t always instant, but rest assured, it’s real, very real, and ongoing. The ripple hasn’t faded; it’s expanding!
Empowered for Change
Now, as these ripples of renewal extend into your daily life, you’re invited to cooperate with the change, to live for Christ.
Yes, challenges arise. Your old habits might try to pull you back. But, take heart! You possess a new mindset, new desires planted by God Himself. (Hebrews 8:10) You’re not alone in this journey. The Creator of the universe walks beside you, empowering you at every step. (Philippians 2:13)
