Consistency is key when it comes to reading the Bible. Here are some tips to help you establish a consistent Bible-reading habit:
1. Make a specific plan
Vague goals produce vague results. Specific goals produce specific results. So the more details you have to your bible reading plan the better it will be. Start by deciding on these details.
* I will read my bible (after or before) I ___________
* This week I am going to read the book of____________
* When I open my bible I will read _______ Chapters a day.
Or
* When I open my I will read for ____________ Minutes
2. Decide beforehand what you will read
The Bible is a huge book, and knowing where to start can be intimadating. Which often leads to us spending half of our reading time flipping through pages and landing on random scriptures.
To avoid that try picking a book to read through or a bible reading plan.
3. Make it personal.
If you have ever binge watch a tv show consuming every season in a week. You understand the draw a story can have when it strikes a personal cord.
The Bible is so much more than a story. It’s the inspired word of God revealing his nature and truth with our hearts. To make it personal place the Bible in context.
Understanding why a book was written and who it was written to brings understanding. When we understand it we can make it personal.
4. Do what you can do, as often as you can do it.
Remember, small steps over time create huge results. Meaning 5 minutes a day is better than no minutes a day.
You will hear me say it a million times, the Bible has the power to change lives when it is understood and applied.
