God’s Promise to Restore His People

God’s chosen people often found themselves replacing their worship of the Living God with the worship of idols. But our God was faithful and followed through on his promise, to forgive and restore the bond between Himself and his people. We have been adopted in, to the family.

We can be sure that, the same God who restored them is restoring us today:

““I will strengthen the house of Judah, And I will save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back, Because I have mercy on them. They shall be as though I had not cast them aside; For I am the Lord their God, And I will hear them.”

‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭10‬:‭6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” ’”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭30‬:‭17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

““So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, The crawling locust, The consuming locust, And the chewing locust, My great army which I sent among you. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, And praise the name of the Lord your God, Who has dealt wondrously with you; And My people shall never be put to shame.”

‭‭Joel‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; Everlasting joy shall be theirs.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭61‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“Return to the stronghold, You prisoners of hope. Even today I declare That I will restore double to you.”

‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭9‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“I will restore the fortunes of Judah and of Israel and will rebuild them as in former times. I will purify them from all the iniquity they have committed against me, and I will forgive all the iniquities they have committed against me, rebelling against me.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭33‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not become weary, they will walk and not faint.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭30‬-‭31‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“I have seen his ways, but I will heal him; I will lead him and restore comfort to him and his mourners,”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭57‬:‭18‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“that the Lord your God will bring you back from captivity, and have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the nations where the Lord your God has scattered you. If any of you are driven out to the farthest parts under heaven, from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you.”

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

Isaiah‬ ‭43‬:‭19‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, so they will obey my decrees and regulations. Then they will truly be my people, and I will be their God.”

‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭11‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Now on to…

The new beginnings we have because of Christ.

Three of the most powerful words spoken, It is finished. When Christ accomplished his father’s will. Forever becoming the atonement for our sin and restoring man back to himself. Because of this week, the chance to begin again..

“We have redemption in Him through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace”

Ephesians‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry out, to “Abba, Father! ””

Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭15‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬-‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, establish, strengthen, and support you after you have suffered a little while.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives. Since we have been united with him in his death, we will also be raised to life as he was. We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin. And since we died with Christ, we know we will also live with him.”

Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬-‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.””

Revelation‬ ‭21‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure and holy, and he freed us from sin.”

1 Corinthians‬ ‭1‬:‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Prayers for Restoration

We all find seasons in our life where we need to be restored and refreshed. If you find yourself in such a season, these Bible verses will help. God hears you and will answer your prayer.

“Restore the joy of your salvation to me, and sustain me by giving me a willing spirit.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭12‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters. He renews my life; he leads me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭23‬:‭1‬-‭3‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“Restore us, God; make your face shine on us, so that we may be saved.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭80‬:‭3‬ ‭CSB‬‬

“Restore us, O God of our salvation, And cause Your anger toward us to cease.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭85‬:‭4‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him, He shall see His face with joy, For He restores to man His righteousness.”

‭‭Job‬ ‭33‬:‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“God, create a clean heart for me and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭10‬ ‭CSB‬‬

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭12‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

“What can I say? He has spoken to me, and he himself has done it. I walk along slowly all my years because of the bitterness of my soul. Lord, by such things people live, and in every one of them my spirit finds life; you have restored me to health and let me live.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭38‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭CSB‬‬

We will wrap up this list with this verse:

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

The most important aspect of restoration will be, when mankind is restored back to the full presence of God. We will no longer long for the Garden of Eden. We will be in the midst of beauty, peace, and perfection. Forever with our Savior.
