Nicole woke before her alarm, the thought already waiting for her.
Here it is again… my birthday.
She laid still for a moment, staring at the ceiling, letting the weight of another year press against her chest. Slowly, she pulled herself out of bed and crossed the room. When she stopped in front of the mirror, she didn’t look away right away. Her eyes locked on her reflection, and her mind began to spiral.
You should be further along. You’re so broken. You’ll never make it happen.
She had heard the words a thousand times before, and yet they still found a way to land heavy. The waiting. The disappointment. The quiet heartbreak of dreams that never quite came together the way she hoped.
Later that morning, she sat in the same pew she always did.
The service moved on around her, but her thoughts lingered on everything she thought her life should look like by now.
The turning poing
Then Nicoles pastor opened the Bible and began to read aloud: “Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think…”
—Ephesians 3:20
Mental spiral came to a squishing hult. The words becan to settled slowly in—not rushing her, not correcting her—just meeting her right where she was, with grace.
And when it finally sank in that God was still writing her story, she prayed,
“Lord, give me faith to dream again.”
Anchored in Truth
Maybe you’ve waited longer than you ever thought you would, and it feels like the moment has passed or the door has closed.
But our God is still able to bring something new. He meets us right in the middle of the broken pieces and gently begins the work of restoration. What feels like an ending to us is often the place where God begins again.
It’s never too late for Him. He is a God of renewal, and even here, He can bring new life, new purpose, and new hope.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your grace that invites me into Your presence. Today, I come to You with boldness, knowing You are not done with me yet. Give me faith for this next season of life. Help me to dream again about the purposes and plans You have for me. Give me the courage to take steps of faith in obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
