As a Christian, you understand the importance of studying the Bible and reflecting on its teachings. That’s why a Bible study journal can be an incredibly helpful tool for deepening your understanding of scripture and growing in your faith.
It’s also one of my favorite way to process what I am learning. As I meditate on God’s word.
There is a difference between reading and studying. And the difference make is questions!
Ask as many questions as you can. But not just go yourself but you the Holy Spirit. Who’s desire is for you to understand.
This is why he tells us if we seek we shall find! Remember the Bible is not just a good book to read. It is the inspired word of God written to give us understanding.
Ok! So not that we are all geared up and excited let’s dive into it!
1. Pick your Bible Journal
Keep in mind that it can be as fancy or as simple as you want! The important part is that you get one that you would not mind writing in. Sometimes the notebook we pick looks too pretty that we don’t want to “mess it up” so we end up wanting to find the perfectly color-coded highlighters. The perfect journal is the journal that you will use. Even if that means a spiral notebook, (Which is sometimes one of my favorite choices.)
2.Pick a Bible Journaling Method.
Some people prefer to simply write out their thoughts and reflections, while others like to use prompts or worksheets to guide their study.
It’s ok to try out a lot of different methods. Keep it mind that it might change from season to season. The most important part is that you connect with God.
If you choose to use prompts, consider what topics or themes you want to focus on. Some common prompts include:
- What stood out to me in the passage
- What questions do I have about this passage?
- How can I apply this passage to my life?
- What did I learn about God’s character from this passage?
As you study, be sure to take notes on:
- Key verses
- Definitions
- Key words
- What God is saying to his people
- Principles and lessons that people are learning
Really take not of anything that stands out to you.
Ultimately, the most important thing is to make your Bible study journal a regular part of your routine. Set aside time each day or week to dive into scripture and reflect on what God is teaching you. Over time, you’ll find that your journal becomes a valuable resource for deepening your faith and growing closer to God.
