A Prayer For My Children

I have two sweet boys (6 & 8), and the older they get, the more I realize just how deeply I need God’s wisdom.

I don’t know what the world will look like when they’re grown.
I don’t know every choice they’ll make.

But this I do know.

God loves our children with a great love (1 John 3:1). He has created them with a purpose (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10).  our prayers do matter.  (James 5:16), and if we need wisdom we can ask God (James 1:5).

In fact it was Jesus who said, if we ask anything according to His will we know that He hears us, and if He hears us we know we have what we are asking for (1 John 5:14-15).

so Mamma, KEEP PRAYING. God is listening.

A Prayer for our Children

Lord,

Thank You for these beautiful children and for the amazing joy that they have brought to our family. Lord, I ask You to keep them and protect them all the days of their life (Numbers 6:24, Psalm 121:7-8).

Lord, please lead them in Your presence. Give them ears to hear You and eyes to see You (Matthew 13:16). Help them to walk in Your wisdom. Give them gentle words.

God, send them godly community. Friends who are kind and encouraging. Mentors who would pour into their lives and encourage them in Your ways (Proverbs 27:17, Hebrews 10:24-25).

Help them to love what is good and flee evil (Romans 12:9). Lord, I pray that Your presence would be with them all the days of their life (Psalm 23:4, 23:6). Fill their hearts with Your peace as they follow You (Philippians 4:7).

Lead us with wisdom as we raise them. Teach us when to correct, and how to correct in love.

Teach us how to explain Scripture in a way that, they can understand. And as we sow the seeds of Your word, may every seed that is sown into their heart produce fruit for many years to come (Isaiah 55:11).

Give us sensitivity. Help us to connect with them in the ways that they need. Help us to be an example of Your light and love every day of their lives.

Be with our whole family as we follow You (Ecclesiastes 12:1, Ezekiel 3:9).

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
